ECO Design Group, LLC is a full service architecture firm formed by local area architects, designers, construction managers and specialists who incorporate green and sustainable designs to suit the needs of the client and project without sacrificing aesthetics or comfort. The firm which is based in Portland, Maine has completed projects as far south as Old Orchard Beach and as far north as Harpswell and Georgetown. Project types range from renovations and additions to new construction. Michael DeCandia, a registered architect in Maine, as well as most states in the Northeast, is the founding partner.
Design
The ECO Design Group, LLC seamlessly integrates the most appropriate energy efficient, green, and sustainable design principals, products, and technologies into all aspects of our designs and the built environment. Energy and cost savings can be achieved in the simplest of ways, and no project is too small.
Starting with land and site considerations including solar orientation, organic gardening, waste/water management, through to the development of energy efficient improvements and renovations, and the design of LEED certified buildings. We work with local contractors that incorporate green building practices and together, if desired by the client, we monitor the building and post building process to assure that maximum cost savings are achieved.
The Group has been lead by several LEED Accredited Professionals using The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ and is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council. Each professional has owned their own firm designing homes, commercial spaces, schools, healthcare facilities, clubs and a variety of other projects. Our LEED certified architects are complimented by specialists on staff and outside consultants trained in the area of sustainable energy analysis, materials and advanced design technology.
Energy Analysis
Our BPI (Building Performance Institute) staff have been certified in Building Envelope and Building Analysis. BPI is a national energy efficiency standards and contractor credentialing program. The services we provide range from the preparation of energy audits and assessments, making recommendations for energy improvements, providing cost estimates, and implementing the work.
